I know I wax nostalgic quite a bit, but honestly those were the best times for me within my years of skateboarding. In my earlier years there was a company that hooked me up that was based out of Minneapolis called Molotov. They flowed a few other Milwaukee skaters and had a relatively large following here. The company was run by a fellow by the name of Andy, and he brought originality and creativeness to everything he did. At the time, he was one of my biggest influences regarding art and design. He kept it simple and it worked. The other rad thing about Molotov was the fake pro models. He would take a phone book, randomly pick a name and put it on a board. Andy was way beyond his time and unfortunately in the early 90’s his company went away due to skateboarding taking a huge shit.
These were the decks produced by Molotov.
Fortunately, for the world, Andy is still making art and producing some limited run decks from time to time. He still loves skateboarding and hopefully will re-release some of the old Molotov stuff so I can buy it and keep it forever.
If anyone out there has any Molotov stuff laying around, shoot me an email. I would love to look at it or maybe even buy it from you.

So what’s worse to wear in public: sweatpants or basketball shorts?

How could you possibly say goodbye to one of your best friends without a trip to TGI Fridays? Impossible!
This is where the partying stared in earnest. Ben was ready to go before anyone else. He even invented a new dance craze that he was calling “the waft”. Simply amazing.
Like TGI Friday’s, you cannot possibly say farewell without a solid round of karaoke. We walked in to the most insane rendition of “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” by some local heshers. Their skill may have psyched us out a bit, but we soon found our karaoke sealegs and some shit went down. Sarah, Danny and I: “How Soon as Now”. Vance: An extremely memorable rendition of “Get Back”. Gabe: a beautiful recreation of “Private Eyes”. Ultimate bar sing along: “Bohemian Rhapsody”. And of course, an ender to end them all: “More Than A Feeling” belted out like it was our last moment on Earth and nothing would save the planet except for ten people giving the best Brad Delp that their honest hearts could muster. Needless to say, Earth is still here.
Afterwards the only obvious thing to do was to go upstairs to Danny brother’s house and listen to the same Morrissey cd six times in a row and make sure Danny knows how much we love him.
:crying:

Go to this thing. Support skateboarding in Milwaukee and dudes that make websites. Eat hot dogs and burgers, but watch out for weird things happening in the bathrooms.

Starting last Monday we had pretty much a daily celebration/mourning to commemorate Danny Stemper’s moving away to California. This first fun time here that I’m posting pictures from wasn’t exactly for him, but that didn’t stop us from making it special and exciting so he knows how much love we got for that little guy. Morrissey Monday/Goodbye Danny Stemper Day 1:
As I type Danny is on his way to California and a lot of people are dealing with their weekend overdoses of beer. We love that guy. More pictures soon.

Top Shop day 2 and 3. I didn’t take too many photos during the day for some reason. It was the worst outside, snowing and whatnot. Danny and TJ skated that day and they both did pretty good. Anyway, these pictures start at night after the contest was over and party night was beginning.
Bill is not a flying fetus, but he still got some moves in the bowl. Smith Grind the deep end.
Random line up of Nesser, Norris, Munz, Bill, and a mystery dude.
Creature sponsored one of the best ideas. Beer bong and launch ramp contest. The whole deal was you had to beer bong and then hit the launch ramp within 30 seconds. Whoever had the sickest launch without barfing won something. I’m not sure what. Even flying babies were taking beer bongs. So sick. Above, check out the differences in Chase’s and Stemper’s bonging styles. Chase is so animalistic…eye of the tiger. Stemper is cool as can be, just enjoying the brew.
I don’t remember who won, or whatever, but there were some definite best rides of the day in there.
Munz and the Mint Tingler, TLC style.
I think Troy and Sean were yelling at the Flying Fetus here. No one likes the Flying Fetus.
Munz actually kind of gives me a vibe of the Troy of Minneapolis. I know it’s a huge claim, but I think the dude might have what it takes. I think he was just telling us a beautiful unprintable story at this juncture in time.
This is obviously the next day. Troy with a melon over the hip in the outside bowl. I think he ate shit on this go. He did it next try very careful and unstemper like.
Pizz getting tizz.
All in all, a great trip. A big thanks to Third Lair, Sam McGuire, and The Plat for all the Minneapolis great times. Cho ass!!
I think Cream City got 18th or so. Not bad figuring a team member got wasted and nude the night before his run and had his hog photographed.

We recently traveled to lovely Minneapolis for the 2008 Top Shop skateboarding contest at the third lair. These following photos cover day one of the journey.
The backseat of the ride. Arranged by age.
We climbed some mountains on the way there.
Shit was tite until we realized we were covered in ticks. Thirty minutes down the road from the stop Bill captured one of those critters mere inches away from latching onto his balls. Two days later Pizzy was just sitting there and one was just randomly crawling on his chest. Sick.
We finally made it to the contest and I think Max skated that night. More importantly: Party Bus!
This was the last photo from the night. I don’t remember it, and I don’t know what’s happening in it, but needless to say, shit is tite.
It was a great night. Kicking it with the Minneapolis guys was a definite plus. More soon.
